L1 syndrome, also known as spastic paraplegia syndrome type 1, is a rare neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive weakness and spasticity of the lower limbs. The clinical picture includes gradually increasing muscle weakness, increased tone of the leg muscles, impaired coordination of movements, and abnormal reflexes. The disease is often accompanied by additional neurological manifestations such as intellectual disability, microcephaly, and dysgenesis of the corpus callosum.
