This condition is primarily associated with abnormal activity of the enzyme ADAMTS13, which is responsible for the degradation of von Willebrand factor multimers, which leads to their accumulation and formation of blood clots. The main manifestations of the disease are purpura (skin hemorrhages), anemia, thrombocytopenia and signs of organ damage, which can lead to serious complications, including death, if not treated promptly. TTP can be either primary (hereditary) or secondary, developing as a result of various provoking factors, including infections, pregnancy and some tumors.<\/p>\n<div id=\"ez-toc-container\" This discovery allowed a better understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying the disease and gave rise to new approaches to diagnosis and treatment. In the 1950s, TTP was described as an acute condition that could be treated with plasma exchange, which revolutionized the approaches to therapy and monitoring in patients with this diagnosis.
