This developmental anomaly or acquired pathology can lead to damage to the renal tissue, which in turn can cause secondary development of glomerulonephritis and pyelonephritis. Reflux nephropathy is most often associated with high pressure in the urinary tract, which can contribute to intoxication and inflammation of the kidneys. RNP occurs in children and adults, and in children it is more often a consequence of anatomical anomalies, while in adults it can be a result of infections or injuries. The study of urinary tract diseases continued, and in the 1950s, radiological methods such as emergency urography began to be used, which significantly improved the diagnosis of RNP. Since the end of the 20th century, due to the development of ultrasound diagnostics, videoscopic capabilities and other invasive diagnostic methods, earlier detection of pathology has become possible.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%D0%AD%D0%BF%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BC%D0%B8%D0%BE%D0%BB%D0%BE%D0%B3%D0%B8%D1%8F\"><\/span>Epidemiology<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Reflux nephropathy is one of the most common diseases among children, especially in infancy and preschool age. According to various studies, its incidence ranges from 1% to 3% in the general population. In some risk groups, such as children with predisposing anatomical abnormalities, cases can reach 30-40%. In adult patients, reflux nephropathy is less common, but as health conditions associated with other diseases (such as diabetes or chronic cystitis) worsen, the risks increase.
