Paget's disease of bone, also known as osteodystrophy or osteitis deformans, is a chronic skeletal disorder characterized by abnormal bone remodeling. This results in enlarged and deformed bones, usually in areas such as the pelvis, skull, spine, and limbs. Both osteoblasts and osteoclasts are involved, causing an imbalance between bone formation and resorption. This process results in uneven bone growth, which can cause pain, osteoarthritis, fractures, and even cardiovascular problems due to increased stress on major blood vessels. Paget's disease can progress without symptoms for many years, but in some cases, severe symptoms prompt the patient to seek medical attention.<\/p>\n
